More than 240 unaccompanied children offered medical help in Jan-March

Doctors of the World and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) offered medical treatment to more than 240 unaccompanied refugee children in Greece in the first three months of the year, they said on Monday.
Via their mobile healthcare units, the two groups offered primary healthcare services to the children staying at four different hotels accommodating refugees in Athens, Corinth, and northern Greece. In these three regions, the IOM and Doctors of the World have been operating since April a total of eight hotels for refugees in cooperation with non-government organizations Arsis and Iliaktida.
“The supporting of Greek authorities to handle the vulnerability of unaccompanied children in Greece is one of the priorities of IOM. By temporarily offering decent living conditions in combination with health services, we are securing the direct access to the basic rights of health and housing, while at the same time organizing a more permanent solution,” said Gianluca Rocco, Chief of IOM Mission in Greece.
