Construction of TAP pipeline in Kavala cleared-Energy Ministry

Construction work on the TAP pipeline in the northern city of Kavala will go ahead after a meeting between Energy Minister Giorgos Stathakis and local government officials on Monday.

It was agreed that within two weeks the Energy Ministry will sign an agreement with TAP, the local council and region on the constructing of a water supply pipe system for the area of Kavala.
“This gives a solution to a problem for 15,000 people that occurred for years and an irrigation project that will handle the problem of water shortages,” said the ministry in a statement.

There will also be a team put together with representatives from all the parties involved that will oversee the studies involved and the implementation of the project worth some 20 million euros. With the signing of Monday’s agreement, construction work on the pipeline in the area will commence.
