Tsipras in Parliament: Greece’s and Cyprus’s sovereign rights are non-negotiable

Greece’s sovereign rights at the Aegean are non-negotiable, as are the Cyprus’s rights in the eastern Mediterranean and its EEZ, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said in Parliament on Thursday.

Tsipras spoke during a plenary session in Parliament which discussed a proposal by main opposition New Democracy (ND) to set up a preliminary investigation committee for three current SYRIZA ministers.

“Our country is a factor of stability and security, and (Turkey) cannot play games with Greece,” Tsipras said, calling for composure, patience and measured steps in face of Turkish provocations. He added that what he had to say about Turkey he told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in person, and he challenged ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis to be as candid with Erdogan as he had been.
