First round of contacts between government and institutions’ mission heads completed

The first round of contacts between government representatives and the heads of the institutions’ missions to Greece, in the context of the fourth programme review, was completed on Thursday. According to a senior finance ministry official “it was a successful mission.”

The same source said that a timetable was set during the meetings, adding that the obstacles and difficulties, most of which are of a technical nature, will be discussed via mail. The aim is to complete the 4th programme review and have an overall agreement (Greek development programme, debt relief and post-memorandum surveillance) at the Eurogroup on June 21.

Regarding the new objective property values, the source said that the government is committed to introducing them in March.

Asked when the IMF might ask for a reduction in the tax-free allowance to be brought forward by a year, he said the government will wait for the first quarter GDP figures to be released in May.
