Senior official: ESM to approve disbursement of Greece’s loans




The disbursement of the 2-billion-euro loan sub-tranche Greece is expecting from its bailout program, along with the 10 billion euros for the recapitalization of the country’s lenders are expected to be approved on November 23 (Monday), a senior official participating in the ongoing negotiations with Greece’s lenders said on Monday.

The decision will be taken by the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) which will convene on the sidelines of the Eurogroup meeting which will take place on the same day.

According to the same official, the draft bill which will be tabled in parliament on Tuesday will include measures protecting the main residence from foreclosures, the prices of generic drugs, the 100-instalment payment plan, the equivalent measures taken to avoid a 23 pct VAT hike in education and the changes in road tax.

The bill on non-performing loans will be tabled at a later time, while now the government is examining the strategy for managing and selling of these loans.
