Clashes between police, 200 rioters in Exarchia after march

Clashes between MAT riot police and some 200 individuals were continuing in Athens’ Exarchia district late on Tuesday, after the end of a march marking the 42nd anniversary of the 1973 Polytechnic uprising.
The incidents started at 20:00 on the corner of Stournari Street and Bouboulinas streets, when youths in the march’s anti-establishment bloc attacked a MAT platoon using petrol bombs, stones and sticks, as well as overturning and setting fire to dumpsters.
Police responded with use of stun grenades at intervals to push them back.
