Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avgi) party leader Nikos Michaloliakos was referred to the Ethics Committee by Parliament President Nikos Voutsis on Friday, over an issue involving slurs against a deputy who is Muslim.

Voutsis has already referred to the committee party deputies Ilias Kasidiaris and Panagiotis Iliopoulos for reportedly referring to SYRIZA Deputy Mustafa Mustafa as “a Turkish agent”.

Michaloliakos was referred to the committee because at a plenary discussion on Thursday he fully supported his deputies on the issue and went further by calling on Greek Muslim lawmakers to state which country they consider their homeland.

The Ethics Committee will convene at 13:00 on Monday to review the case. It will send its recommendations to the plenum, which will decide whether to impose disciplinary measures or take other actions against the party.
